Hi,

My little one has been teething for pretty much 4 months now, poor thing.  She has 4 teeth and I am sure there are more on the way shortly.

She is not sleeping very well at night at all, the only thing that comforts her (and not always) is bringing her into bed with me for a feed and then she ends up staying there all night because she just wakes up and cries if I try to put her in her cot.

I am using a combination of pain relief, homeopathic and scientific, but nothing seems to really help.  She also eats solds 3/4 times a day, and I always try to feed her something before bedtime and before her last nighttime breastfeed, so that she is not hungry.

However, she is waking up so much now, I am not sure if it has become a habit or if there really is a problem with pain?  We have even tried getting Daddy to go to her instead of me and that just winds her up more and she ends up being much more awake and taking hours to go to sleep.

Any thoughts or ideas would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi there!

Teething can be a tough one for sure! It's alwasy hard to see our little ones suffer through this. My first question would be how old is your baby? And my next question would be what have you tried other than bringing her into bed to get her re-settled?

It does sound like the nightwaking might have become a bit of a habit in that she's not able to resettle herself back to sleep or that she is waking during her light sleep cycle instead of going back to sleep.

If you haven't already, I recommend checking out these two resources. One is an post specifically written about teething and sleep and the other is part of a six post series on sleep training where you might look for a sleep training solution to implement and try as part of overall sleep training to get your little one on a better sleeping track.

Please post back and we will continue to try to troubleshoot with some additional tips or ideas.
