What am I doing wrong?

My daughter just turned 1 this month. My mother-in-law and babysitter tells us that our daughter has no problem napping with them. Our sitter says she naps twice (30-40 mins).

When my mother in law babysat for a week, she had her sleeping for one nap and it's usually for 2 hours.

When she is with us the whole day (during the weekend). My husband and I have a hard time giving her naps. And if she does nap (if we are lucky) she only naps for 20-30 mins and she wakes up crying or upset.

I wonder if because she is with us and does not want to nap because we are there with her the whole day. I just want to know what I am doing wrong.

Sometimes I feel like I've failed because both the sitter and mother in law says it's easy for them to put her to sleep Cry

I feel like I'm letting my daughter down because she needs those nap times. Confused

Awwww! You have not failed! Your baby loves to be with you. Sounds normal and like you're a good mom to me! :)

I'd have to know more about when you are trying naps and how she's falling asleep with you, but toddlers learn very well that different caretakers have different rules and they learn very well that they can pull on mom and dad's heartstrings when they don't want to do something. Try to develop a solid routine and then stick to it. The average age to transition to one nap is 15 to 18 months, but at this age shorter naps can be an indication there isn't enough wake time. Try to look at some sample schedules to see if the time you are trying the nap(s) is right.
