Hi, my 2 year old has suddenly started crying/having a tantrum at his afternoon nap time. Until now, he's napped easily – I just put him down in his crib and he would fall asleep on his own for 2 to 2.5 hours. For the last few days, he goes in OK, but 15 minutes later he starts to scream and fuss. I've let him fuss for more than an hour and then taken him out – I don't know what to do to help him get back to taking his nap easily. It was literally from one day to the next that this started, and I can't think of any big changes in our daily routine? Has anyone dealt with this before, we need help and appreciate any advice! thanks, Fareeda

Hi there,
Is he taking one or two naps a day? If he's taking two naps, it could be that he's signaling that he's ready to transition to just one nap.
Nicole covers this issue in her new toddler sleep book which you can find here:

Let us know how it's going.

Hi Kimberley,
He's on one nap, he has been for quite a while. He started taking his naps again for a few months, and now he's resisting them again, just like I described above.
He just doesn't fall asleep for his naps. We have a routine, and when I leave him in his bot, he'll sing or play for about half an hour, then start screaming. I've been consistent at letting him fuss for up to an hour but it doesn't seem to help. Any tips would be welcome! I've moved his bedtime up by 30 minutes to 6.30 or 7 (asleep), and he sleeps until about 7am. Thanks, Fareeda
