wakes up too early

Hi, I recently did some "sleep training" with my now almost 10 month old and it worked really well. She started out sleeping from 7:30pm straight through until btwn 6:30-7am. Then she began waking up btwn 6-6:30am and now for the past week or 2 she's up around 5am. She takes 2 naps, the morning nap is at 9:30 or 10 and lasts for btwn 40 min and 1 hr. The afternoon nap is at 1:30 or 2 and lasts 1-2hrs. Any advice on how to get her to sleep later in the morning? I also should mention that she started walking about 3 weeks ago so I don't know if that development has an affect.

It's entirely possible that the walking has affected her sleep. She may just be so excited about her new mobility that she wants to get up for the day.

Typically, babies who start waking so early have somehow woken up during a light sleep cycle and they need help a bit of help getting back to sleep at that time as a way to learn that 5 am is too early and it's not getting up time. I would apply the same “sleep training” methods that worked for you before during these early morning wake-ups to help train her to teach herself to go back to sleep until her regular wake time. Most babies are not really ready to get up at 5 am, they just have a hard time getting back to sleep or getting through that light sleep cycle.

You might also consider shifting her sleep schedule a bit to accomodate a slightly later bedtime. This would mean trying to either shorten her afternoon nap or getting her to move to a little earlier.
