i have a 9 month old that's early waking.  i'm going to start shifing her schedule (if daylight savings doesn's do it for us).  before the early waking started she was refusing her 3rd nap of the day (which was around 5pm, she used to go to bed at 7:00).  how many hours from the end of the 2nd nap should she be awake before going beddy bye?  she's still having trouble being up longer than 3 hours so i'm nervous for her to totally drop it!  eeek!

Hi-

I hope Daylight Savings Time pays off for you, and your baby sleeps in later for you with no hard work!

At this age, most babies are awake for 3-4 hours before sleeping again,
and of course all babies are different. If she is ready for bed 3 hours
after waking from her last nap, this is average.

Some babies still need a 3rd catnap to get through the evening at 9 months, but if she is refusing it every day for a week or more, then she is probably ready to give it up.If she does give upi that 3rd nap for good, Be sure that she is getting enough sleep in the day, be sure that she is getting enough sleep in the day, and she is not overtired. Here is a link to an article on 9 month old sleep, with sample schedules:

Good luck,

well daylight savings did not work for us.  it did for a few days but then she was back to her old schedule.  i'm really at a loss.  today she woke at 4:30 and whined for an hour and a half until i got her up at 6am.  then i was totally confused on what time i should put her down for a nap!  she's been forced to take a 3rd nap for the past few days b/c the early waking is making her schedule completely out of whack.  i put her down at 5:45 for the night last night and she is STILL overtired.  i don't know how to combat this.  making slep logs starting today. :/

Hi again-

Sleep logs are a really good idea; they really helped me. Have you read the article on the 8, 9, or 10 month sleep regression? Maybe some of the information will make sense for your daughter's situation:

http://www.babysleepsite.com/b…..egression/

Take a look at these articles on shifting schedules, and early risers too:

http://www.babysleepsite.com/t…..schedules/

My other advice would be to keep the sleep logs, and consider a one-on-one sleep consultation. You can read about all of our sleep consultation packages and
purchase directly online here: http://babysleepsite.com/services.

As for a schedule for an early riser, you can adjust the times as needed to fit your daughters waking schedule, and how long she stays awake between naps.

Here is an example, but adjust it to fit your day:

6:00 – Wake and Breast milk or Formula

8:00 – Breakfast

9:00 – Morning Nap (at least 1 hour)

10:00 – Breast milk or Formula

12:00 – Lunch

1:00 – Early Afternoon Nap (at least 1 hour)

2:00 – Breast milk or Formula plus snack

4:00 – Dinner

5:30 – Begin bedtime routine

6:00 – Breastmilk or Formula and Bedtime

I hope that this helps!
