I came across this website while trying to find a solution to my 11.5 month old sons sleeping problems or is it my sleeping problems!! ;-S

He slept well until he was 4 months old, only waking once to feed.  Then from 4 months until now (last night) he has woken every 2 hours.  I have 2 more little boys aged 5 and 2 and am getting pretty exhausted during the day and am in desparate need of some suggestions and help to get him sleeping.

His routine is as follows.

DAYTIME

Wake or is woken at about 6am depending on the other 2

Milk feed about 7.00 am

Breakfast at 8.00 am

Sleep 9 – 10 am (Self Settles)

Wakes – 11 – 12 pm

Lunch – 1.00 pm

Sleep 2.30 pm (Self Settles)

Wakes 3.30 pm

Dinner 5.00 pm

Milk Feed with Bedtime Routine and in bed between 6.30 – 7.00pm (Self Settles)

(The only variation to this is a few more milk drinks between his meals, when he wants it)

NIGHTTIME

Bedtime – 7.00 pm

Wakes – 8.30 – 9.30 pm

Wakes – 12.30 am

Wakes – 2.00 am

Wakes – 4.00 am

Wakes – 6.00 am

The only way I am able to get him to go back to sleep is by giving him a boob, which he will empty.  He also seems to be using my hair as a comforter as he twiddles it in his hands.

If I leave him to cry he will just get more and more upset and also wake up the other 2, also my husband works away a fair bit and I am too exhausted to run a household on little to no sleep!

I can't work out whether he is hungry or using me as a comforter but I don't know how to stop this cycle.  Can anyone please help!?

Thanks

It has been quite a while, and I do hope that everyone's sleep has gotten much better!

I think you are right, and do have a sleep crutch going on, nursing and maybe your hair too! Slowly teaching him to sleep without as much comfort from you is your first plan of action.

Again, I hope all is well!
