Hello all,

I'm sure I'm not the only person with this problem, but ever since my baby started crawling (around 8 months), her sleep pattern has been non existent. Up to then, she was happily going to bed around 7h30pm and waking up once for a night feeding around 2 am and then going back to sleep until 6-6h30. The 2 am feeding would take 10 minutes : Drink 5 oz, would go back to sleep on her own after 2 minutes of back stroking. It was barely enough for my husband and me to be bothered and we would wake up feeling refreshed and ready for the day.

Then all of a sudden, it stopped.

Now, a typical night is her going to bed at 7h30, and proceeding to wake up every 30 minutes from midnight on until 5 am comes around and she wants to be UP! We are talking crying herself into gagging and sometimes throwing up.

She takes 2 naps a day : One in the morning of about 90 minutes and one in the affternoon of about 60 minutes. These days, these naps seem to be getting longer and I'm thinking it's because she's feeling the lack of sleep as well. I try and limit her naps to 90 minutes.

We've tried putting her to bed later, but she won't hear of it. She's the one that asks for bed at 7h30. And that first leg is good. If my hubby and I could go to sleep at 7h30 when she does, we would, but we all know that can't happen.

Sleep training has been a struggle and has been getting worse since she's been able to move around. She'll get up in her bed and will shake the bars and cry until I'm affraid she'll hurt herself or break the bed. She is SUCH an active child and we've tried mellowing her out before bed, but she won't even sit for a book.

HELP!!!! Cry

Hi-

Sorry that things are so rough right now!

Your baby’s sleep issues sound like they are likely developmental, and should

hopefully pass without too much more trouble. The key is to keep routines and expectations consistent, and try not to introduce any new sleep associations or habits as you continue to teach her to go to sleep and back to sleep on her own.

Sleep problems are VERY common at this age. Here is a link to an

article that may help. It explains more about this “sleep regression.”

I hope that this helps!

Good luck!!!
