10mos baby can only sleep while bottle-feeding

My 10months old baby boy can only sleep while we bottle-feed him. If he wasn't asleep by the time the milk in the bottle has finished, he will wake up and be all active and alert again. And we have to wait a little while to give him another bottle of milk to try to make him sleepy and drowsy. Sometimes he gets too full with milk that he couldn't drink anymore. I suspect that he loves the comfort of sucking the nipple and people have been advising me to give him a pacifier. However, in my opinion, I don't think I should introduce him a habit which I am going to break sooner or later.

I try to get him to sleep at 7pm each night. The first few hours, he usually can't sleep that well and will keep on waking up and crying for me/bottle. At around 10pm, he usually can sleep better and will continue to sleep until 7am in the morning, with once or twice waking around 3am-5am.

My only concern now is how to get him to sleep without relying on a bottle. I'm worried about his tooth decay (he has 5 teeth now!). I tried holding him on his cot to sleep but he kept struggling and screaming until I released him. He then stood up in his cot and smiled happily to me.

Help!

I think you are right about not wanting to introduce a new habit-the pacifer- that you will just have to break later. Most likely he would then use the pacifier as a sleep crutch, and you would be up as often to replace it.

I think you'll need to do some sleep training when you are ready.

There are different ways to go about this, here is a link to an article to give you some ideas:
