My 10 month old has been a wonderful night sleeper since the young age of eight weeks. With naps it took us a while, but had it down to two daily naps averaging an hour each. We went to Mexico for Christmas and our little bundle got pharyngitis, horrible congestion, vomiting, and ear infection, in addition to cutting three teeth. Because sleep was important to his recovery, his two naps were taken in my arms and lasted two hours each. By the end of the ten day vacation, he was sleeping on our bed (it was too cold in his pack and play and couldn't risk another illness).
Now he will NOT nap in his crib. He cries for the full hour we leave him alone in his crib. He is exhausted (laying his head on the crib falling asleep but wakes himself back up seconds later). The last two days he has taken NO NAPS. I'm putting him down earlier (no later than 7 pm). He also has been waking up at night and stays awake for two hours. I guess he got used to sleeping with us.
How long will this last? What can we do? He's not three months anymore. I'm sure he's figured some stuff out. It brakes my heart to see him cry and ask for us. Also, what is this doing to his development and health? The only good thing about this is that the stress has made me lost seven pounds so far. I'm desperate. Anyone gone through this and was successful?
