Hello
I am having a similar problem as the previous poster. My 4 month old son Jonah has been a great sleeper, going 5-6 hour streches, and only waking once or twice during the night. Now he won't sleep for more than 3 or 4 hours tops, sometimes waking every 2 hours.
Naps: He naps great at home and at day care. He's not on a real schedule yet, but will nap between 30 minutes and 3 hours (rarely) 3 or 4 times a day. He sleeps great in his crib, puts himself to sleep without swaddling or a pacifier.
Bedtime: He puts himself to sleep great around 8:00. Sometimes I wait until he is too tired and he falls asleep nursing, but usually I nurse him, then change him and lie him down in his crib. He falls asleep on his own beautifully without swaddling, pacifier, or any other “props”. I have a 3 year old who was a terrible sleeper so I know the importance of putting babies to bed when they are awake.
Night wakings: The last couple of nights he has gone down at 8:00, gotten up around 11:00, 1:00 or 2:00 and 4:30. I get him up for the day at 6:00. I nurse him to sleep every time he gets up because I am afraid to wake up his brother whose bedroom is right next door.
Bottom line: I'm not sure if he is getting up because he is hungry, or just has reached the end of his sleep cycle and can't fall back asleep. Also-I think he might be teething which puts a whole new wrinkle on things. I am fine with CIO, it worked great with my 3 year old, but he was 7 months old by then, and I was confident that he did not need to eat at night. Also my 3 year is a light sleeper and I don't want want Jonah's crying to wake him up.
I'd appreciate any advice you can give.
Thanks!!
