4 month old frequent night wakings short naps crib in my room

Help!!! Hello I am having some horrible issues with sleeping. I have to nurse or rock him to sleep. Yet he wakes shortly after laying him down, anywhere from immediately to 90 minutes. But this continues over & over all night sometimes waking in excess of 10 times per night. He also wakes crying & does this so hard he's hoarse. Also when I try & snuggle him or hold him & try & calm him he fights me & pushes against me. I've tried to lay him down "drowsy but awake" & he cries immediately. Naps are also difficult if I don't hold him thru the whole nap he wakes after only 30 minutes. Needless to say we are having some serious issues. We could seriously use some help & guidance.

Help us please!!

Hello,

I think the first step is going to be to get him to nap better, without being held and to extend his naps.

How much is he napping during the day now? I would recommend taking a look at this recommended schedule for a 4 month old to gauge how much he's sleeping during the day for comparison.

What time is he waking and what time are you starting the bedtime routine? We'll need to see if his schedule is part of the problem or where we might want to try and make adjustments that may help.

Are you able to lay him down for naps at all? If you can, then one thing to try is to go in right before the 30 minute mark and try to pat/shush him as he starts to stir to help him transition from that light sleep cycle into his next deeper sleep cycle.
